In Kyrgyzstan 5 Women Have Been Arrested For Participation In Hizb ut Tahrir

On the territory of the Nooken District of Jalal-Abad Region, members of the women’s cell of “Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami” have been detained, the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reports. Law-enforcement officials reported that active members of the women’s wing of the organization, under the guise of practical training in sewing and cutting, invited young girls to work, during which process they gradually, in an unobtrusive manner, instilled Islamic ideas. The women actively participated in closed Telegram channels, were engaged in the distribution of banned literature, and discussed the establishment of a caliphate on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On January 29, 2026, as a result of investigative and operational measures, five members of the women’s wing were detained and placed in the pre-trial detention facility of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic. At present, the investigation is ongoing.

Comment:

The latest arrests of Kyrgyz women for conducting Islamic activity coincide with the intensification of the same trend in Russia. This cannot but lead to the thought that the entire sphere of internal security in Kyrgyzstan is under the control of the FSB to a greater extent than under the control of the State Committee for National Security.

Let us recall that another round of strengthening Moscow’s influence occurred with the coming to power of the current president Sadyr Japarov, to whom Moscow, in exchange for “restoring order” in the country, promised long rule.

Before the 2021 elections, Japarov pretended to be a very religious person, thereby gaining the support of the religious majority, and as a result, after coming to power, began to methodically destroy religious-political activists in the country.

Another important step toward the establishment of Japarov’s regime in the country was the 2022 war on the border with Tajikistan. At that time, he himself initiated the border conflict in order to consolidate society around himself and, taking advantage of the patriotic frenzy, to destroy any independent media and all of his political opponents.
