Washington’s Heist: The 100-Year Oil Extortion of Venezuela

The United States has finalised what President Trump called “the largest oil deal in world history,” granting itself 100-year rights to 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan crude at “no cost to the American taxpayer.” US Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed on 2 September that Chevron and other US firms have signed expansion agreements, following Trump’s 28 August announcement. US-controlled North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), nominally Venezuelan but with a US-majority board and US veto power over appointments, will operate 17 oilfields. Washington receives 35% equity, 20% of output at cost, and first refusal on the remaining 80%, while existing Chinese and Russian projects are to be expelled. The US claims a “deal,” yet Venezuela has been systematically suffocated by US sanctions, leaving it reliant on Chinese and Russian assistance to survive. Now Washington closes that door, diverting oil to itself. The 100-year concession eclipses the earlier 25-year figure, which was merely an interim investment projection. The US contributed no capital; NABEP’s US-controlled board must secure the funds, while Chevron’s modest $7 billion commitment over five years pales against the $100 billion Trump originally demanded. This is historic robbery, executed under the Monroe Doctrine’s repurposed logic of total continental domination. It follows the US military kidnapping of President Maduro and the installation of his Vice President, a humiliation even US puppet Gulf monarchies were spared. Washington’s hypocrisy is complete: it preaches sovereignty while seizing another nation’s patrimony. The deal exposes Western imperialism in its rawest form, a colonial heist dressed as cooperation.

Jordan and Kuwait Boast About Protecting US Crusader Forces

Within hours of renewed US attacks against Iran which caused civilian casualties, Iran retaliated against US positions across the region, including Aqaba in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq. Jordan’s armed forces reported with pride on 2 September that 13 Iranian ballistic missiles entered its airspace; its air defences intercepted and destroyed 10, with the remaining three falling in remote areas. No casualties were recorded. Kuwait’s military also confirmed its forces engaged hostile Iranian missile and drone attacks over 1–2 September, though it has not released precise interception numbers. Iranian sources stated the strikes targeted US-linked bases, including King Hussein/Al-Azraq in Jordan and American facilities in Kuwait. Washington claims to defend regional stability, yet its military bases in Jordan and Kuwait has transformed these states into targets. The regimes in Jordan and Kuwait were built upon betrayal of Islam and Muslims. Kuwaiti Amirs signed secret friendship treaties with the British during Ottoman times, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has hoisted on the shore of the Gulf of Aqaba a huge flag of the Arab revolt against Ottoman rule which was led by Britain during the first world war. What level of shame is this that criminals no longer hide their crimes, but boast openly of supporting the enemies of Islam?

War Criminal Ratko Mladić Dies in Prison While Netanyahu Is Welcome in the US and Europe

The Bosnian Serb military chief Ratko Mladić, who was convicted of genocide for the Srebrenica massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys, died 27 August, in United Nations detention at age 84. His death, confirmed by the war crimes tribunal’s residual mechanism, closes a case the West championed as a milestone of international justice. Yet that milestone exposes an ugly truth: the system punishes only those who defy Western interests. Mladić’s trial, however procedurally sound, was politically convenient. Serbia was a Russian ally, and its defeat suited NATO’s expansion. The same Western capitals that applauded his conviction have actively shielded Benjamin Netanyahu, whose Gaza campaign has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians since October 2023, levelled entire neighbourhoods, and created a man-made famine. The International Court of Justice is weighing genocide allegations, and the ICC prosecutor has requested arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his defence minister, yet it is ICC officials who have been sanctioned by the US and treated as criminals, not the butcher Netanyahu. The United States has vetoed multiple UN ceasefire resolutions, delivered huge amounts of military aid, and ensured that the Jewish entity faces no meaningful sanction. Netanyahu’s atrocities dwarf Mladić’s in scale and duration, yet he is greeted with American weapons and diplomatic immunity. The contrast is not about law or morality; it is about loyalty to US hegemony.

A Seat for Moscow, and a Snub for US Allies at the G20

The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting was hosted this year by the US and concluded on 1 September in North Carolina without a joint communiqué, as China alone refused to endorse the US chair’s statement that targeted China directly. The US Treasury used the forum to press China on trade imbalances and non-market policies, yet Washington’s own fiscal position with a staggering $40 trillion in public debt undermined any claim to economic leadership. European allies, meanwhile, bristled at the invitation extended to Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, the first in-person Russian attendance since 2022. German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil called the move “quite troubling”; EU officials rejected any “normalisation” of relations with Moscow. Yet the same Washington that sanctions Russian oil companies now grants its finance minister a seat at the table. Could it be that this invitation extended to Russia, and CIA director Ratcliffe’s surprise visit to Russia, 25 August, is linked to a new direction in US relations with Russia and Europe? Interestingly, the US used its position as host to deny permission for South Africa to attend the G20.
