According to a survey by ‘de Volkskrant’, conducted in 25 municipalities in The Netherlands, at least 160 Muslims are monitored through the so-called person-oriented approach “preventing radicalization and extremism” (PGA). The PGA approach has been used since 2015 by police and intelligence, as well as partners such as municipalities and health organizations, who are monitoring Muslims through probation service, youth care and youth workers.

 Former GroenLinks political leader, Femke Halsema, is not wasting any time. She wants to lash out on Islam and the Muslims. Quickly after she took office as the new mayor of Amsterdam she let the Amsterdam city council know that she does not want to work with “Salafist” organizations and that she, different from her predecessors, has less patience with “orthodox Islamic” organizations.

The anti-Islam movement Pegida The Netherlands which wanted to roast pigmeat just outside the Lalei Mosque in the south of Rotterdam was politely sent away by a huge crowd of counter protesters.

Following the launch of the publicity campaign for the parliamentary elections in the Netherlands, which are due to be held on the fifteenth of this month, political parties have shown all the enmity they carry in their sleeves to Islam and Muslims, a sample of some of the statments of Dutch politicians include: “we must prevent Muslim immigrants from entering the Netherlands”, “we must ban the Qur’an and mosques”
