The Hijri New Year Is Not a Historical Anniversary, but the Beginning of the Establishment of the Islamic State And a Second Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the Method of The Prophethood Will Return Again

The Hijri New Year arrives upon us on 1 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to 16/06/2026 CE. This is the date chosen by Al-Faruq Umar ibn Al-Khattab and the noble Sahabah (ra) as the calendar for the Muslims. He chose this date because it marked the birth of the first Islamic State established by our Messenger (saw) in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

This state continued for many centuries, ruling by what Allah (swt) revealed, implementing the system that He approved for His servants, carrying the message of Islam to the world as a message of guidance, justice, and light, and opening lands in order to bring people from the worship of servants to the worship of the Lord of the servants.

On the anniversary of the Hijrah and the establishment of the first Islamic State, we extend our congratulations to the Amir of Hizb ut Tahrir, the eminent scholar Ata ibn Khalil Abu Al-Rashtah, to all our brothers among the carriers of the Dawah in Hizb ut Tahrir, and to Muslims throughout the world. We ask Allah (swt) to honor us in this year with victory and empowerment through the establishment of the second Khilafah Rashidah on the method of Prophethood, for which Hizb ut Tahrir has dedicated itself, following the example of the Messenger (saw) and remaining steadfast upon the method by which he established the first Islamic State in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

We also pledge to our people in Syria and to all the sons and daughters of our Ummah that we shall remain steadfast upon the path of our master Muhammad (saw), working with the people of our Ummah and for their sake until Allah (swt) honors us all with the establishment of the Islamic State, the second Khilafah Rashidah on the method of Prophethood, the promise of Allah (swt) and the glad tidings of His Messenger (saw). We call upon them to work with us for the establishment of this great obligation, for in that alone lies our honor, success, and prosperity in this world and the Hereafter, by Allah’s permission. Our provision is faith in the promise of our Lord and His saying:

[وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُم فِي الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّن بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْناً]

“Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession to authority upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them, and that He will surely establish for them their religion which He has preferred for them, and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security” [An-Nur:55]. And we believe in the glad tidings of our Messenger (saw), who gave us the good news when he said:

«... ثُمَّ تَكُونُ مُلْكاً جَبْرِيَّةً فَتَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا اللهُ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةً عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ النُّبُوَّةِ، ثُمَّ سَكَتَ»

“...Then there will be tyrannical rule, and it will remain as long as Allah wills it to remain. Then Allah will remove it when He wills to remove it. Then there will be a Caliphate upon the method of Prophethood. Then he remained silent.”

The Khilafah State for which we strive, adhering to the method of our Messenger (saw), is not the state of a group or faction; rather, it is the state of all Muslims. It establishes Allah’s laws, unites Muslims, liberates Al-Aqsa Mosque, and carries the Risalah message of Islam that will save all humanity from the injustice of capitalism and the injustice of man-made systems. By Allah’s permission, it will certainly be established despite the plotting of plotters and the schemes of conspirators.

[وَاللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰ أَمْرِهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ]

“And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.” [Yusuf:21]
