“Among the believers are men who have proven true to what they pledged to Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their pledge ˹with their lives˺, others are waiting ˹their turn˺. They have never changed ˹their commitment˺ in the least.” [Al-Ahzab 33:23]

Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Lebanon mourns:

The esteemed scholar, khatib, sheikh, writer, and poet, Marwan al-Khatib (Abu Muhammad),

who passed away today, Friday, 14 Jumada al-Akhar AH corresponding to 5 December 2025 CE, at the age of 60, in the Nahr al-Bared Camp in northern Lebanon.

The esteemed scholar, Sheikh, and literary figure was a prime example of someone who dedicated his pen and writings to expressing the issues facing Muslims.

Among the many proposals, he saw no solution to these issues other than the Khilafah (Caliphate) and the banner of the Uqab. He thus joined Hizb ut Tahrir in its call to establish the Khilafah according to the methodology of the Prophethood. His writings were vibrant with literary merit and intellectual depth, earning him the title "Poet of the Idea." He was a master at imbuing the literary landscape with the profound thought and vital cause he championed with unwavering conviction until his death, when he remained steadfast in his commitment to the cause. May Allah include him among those of whom He (swt) said:

[وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُولَٰئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُولَٰئِكَ رَفِيقاً]

“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be in the company of those blessed by Allah: the prophets, the people of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous—what honourable company!” [An-Nisa 4:69], and he makes what he wrote with his right hand in the cause of spreading the dawah and supporting Islam a light in His Book on the Day when neither wealth nor children will avail, except for one who comes to Allah with a sound heart. The eye sheds tears and the heart grieves, and we are truly saddened by your departure, Abu Muhammad, and we say only what pleases our Lord, the Almighty: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ  "to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
