The Rohingya crisis entered its sixth year and there appears no end in sight. It has now been over a year since the 1st February 2021 military coup and Myanmar remains in deadly civil conflict. The lack of commitment, sporadic killings in refugee camps and foreign interests all remain major obstacles to solving the crisis.

Political Vacuum in Pakistan

 In the span of just one week, upon the dictation of the IMF, the government of Pakistan increased the petrol and diesel prices by PKR 60. So petrol shot up from PKR 150 to PKR 210! Yet again, the imported system sets a new record. The previous record set by the visionless PTI government has been broken by the current visionless PML-N government, increasing the prices by PKR 60!

Russian-Ukrainian War after 3 Months

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to create a new alliance, an alternative to the EU, that could include the Baltic states as well, the Italian daily Corriere della Sera has reported citing its sources. This alliance could include, in addition to the UK and Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and possibly later Turkey. (Source: lrt)

Russia Sinks into the Quagmire of the Ukraine

It appears that Russia underestimated the ability of Ukrainian forces in terms of their will and resilience to fight. Russia was mistaken in believing that Ukrainian forces won’t be able to withstand the Russian attack. It was mistaken by seeing the care, caution, patience and restraint shown by Ukrainian President, in the face of Russian provocations.

Can Russia Win in Ukraine?

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will soon be 3 months old and it has not been a good war for the Russians. After spending months amassing over 100,000 troops around Ukraine, Russia launched a multi-pronged invasion into Europe’s largest country and very quickly the war turned into a battle of attrition rather than the quick victory the Russians had expected.
