Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Tunisia Challenges the Followers of Western Modernity for a Public Debate
(Translated)

The annual Khilafah Conference, organized by Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Tunisia on 26/4/2025, under the theme "The Failure of the Modern State and the Inevitability of the Khilafah State," was accompanied by a smear and incitement campaign against the party by proponents of Western modernity, who have positioned themselves as guardians of the Tunisian people. They seek to impose a humiliating intellectual and political dependence on the West, ignoring the fact that the Tunisian people are a Muslim nation yearning for liberation from the cultural, political, and economic colonialism that has dominated the country since the era of the abhorrent colonialism.

In response to this frenzied campaign, the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Wilayah Tunisia affirms the following:

1- During the Khilafah 2025 Conference, Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Tunisia presented a civilizational project stemming from the Islamic belief to demonstrate the greatness of Islamic rulings in addressing the accumulated crises produced by the "modern state" in governance, education, the economy, foreign policy, and other areas. In doing so, the Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Tunisia sought to draw the attention of the people of Tunisia and their vital forces to the immense legislative wealth brought by Islam, as a comprehensive way of life implemented by the Khilafah (Caliphate) state on the method of Prophethood. This Khilafah is capable today of saving all of humanity from the hell of secular systems and modernity.

2- The modernists' resort to distortion, slander, and incitement of the authorities and their hard-line forces to ban Hizb ut Tahrir's activities, instead of discussing its ideas and civilizational project, is evidence of their bankruptcy and inability to offer alternatives to their troubled ideology, and their failure to confront the call of Islam with argument and proof. They have resorted to distortion, slander, and the cheap weapon of incitement, which reflects their weakness and intellectual defeat.

3- It seems that the adherents of modernity in Tunisia are out of touch with developments in the Western intellectual scene. Western thinkers themselves have acknowledged the failure of modernity, prompting them to speak of "postmodernity" as conclusive evidence of the end of their civilizational project. These same thinkers have acknowledged their inability to halt the decline, despite repeated attempts at patching things up. If this is the position of Western thinkers themselves regarding modernity, shouldn't their followers in Tunisia consider solutions outside of Western colonialist thought, especially since Islam provides both sufficiency and care?!

4- Hizb ut Tahrir seeks to liberate the lands from all forms of Western hegemony and colonial projects that target our belief, culture, and identity. It works to restore political decision-making based on Islam and to achieve true sovereignty for the country. It has demanded the return of wealth and rejected the American AFRICOM military maneuvers taking place today on Tunisian soil. For this purpose, its members have endured prosecution and military trials. In contrast, none of the advocates of modernity and lamenting sovereignty have uttered a word about the violation of the country’s sovereignty by the American army, which openly supports the Jewish entity against our people in honourable Gaza!

5- Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Tunisia does not want the followers of modernist thought to side in their war on the Khilafah with Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Jewish entity, who declared before the Khilafah Conference that he would not allow the establishment of an Islamic Khilafah on the shores of the Mediterranean. Rather, it wants them to stand with their Ummah and its civilizational project, the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly-guided Caliphate), which will make the Jews forget the whispers of Satan and drive away the Crusader West behind them.

6- Hizb ut Tahrir, while calling for the establishment of the second Khilafah Rashidah on the method of Prophethood, invites Western thinkers and their followers in Tunisia to engage in a public intellectual debate to present the facts without distortion or misleading information, so that the proofs of truth may be revealed and the false reality of Western modernity and democracy may be exposed. Islam challenges the West and its followers on the basis of thought and reason. Their reluctance to engage in intellectual confrontation and their resort to incitement and repression is only evidence of their weakness and the collapse of their argument.

7- In conclusion, we say: The Western civilization’s sun is setting, and the Islamic civilization’s sun will rise again. Hizb ut Tahrir will steadfastly carry out its call to establish the great edifice of the Khilafah, which will save all of humanity from the oppression of savage capitalism and crisis-ridden modernity, and spread the light of justice and mercy across the globe. This is imminent, Allah willing. Allah (swt) says:

[الَّذِينَ إِن مَّكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَمَرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَنَهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَلِلَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ]

“˹They are˺ those who, if established in the land by Us, would perform prayer, pay alms-tax, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil. And with Allah rests the outcome of all affairs” [Al-Hajj: 41].
