The Bajwa-Imran regime is now busy handing over Pakistan’s most prized assets to a select capitalist elite under the banner of privatization, as if it is an open loot sale. On 28 November 2019 the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet discussed the accelerated privatization of two Liquid Natural Gas based 2,450MW power plants of the National Power Parks Management Company.

The leak of almost 400 Chinese government documents further substantiated the fact that the policy of forcing Muslims to abandon Islam, through confining them to detention camps, is official Chinese policy. Moreover, in 2014 the Chinese President Xi Jinping personally instructed this brutal crackdown. 

It is naive to expect Democracy to guarantee justice, denying unjust privilege to power elites, when its essence is compromise. The release from prison of convicted former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, whilst granting him permission to fly abroad for treatment, is a clear case of Democracy’s protection of the power elite.

The Bajwa-Imran regime’s gaudy self-praise over economic recovery is adding salt to the injuries of the peoples, with the IMF approved Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance’s delusional claim that tomatoes are available at Rs. 17/kg, when they were being sold at Rs. 300/kg, becoming the subject of public ridicule.
