Obituary for Anas Al-Sharif and his Colleagues

On the evening of Sunday, August 10, 2025, a small media tent in front of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City was completely destroyed by a direct strike from the Zionist entity, killing five journalists who were documenting the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Among the martyrs were reporters Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammad Qreiqeh, and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammad Noufal. May Allah (swt) accept them among the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous — what excellent companions they are.

The people of Palestine, and Gaza in particular, continue to face relentless aggression from the Zionist entity and the international powers that protect it, led by the United States. Their lives, homes, dignity, and sacred sites have all been violated without restraint. Journalists — whose task is to bear witness and convey these atrocities to the world — have been systematically targeted. According to Al-Jazeera, approximately 270 journalists and media personnel have been deliberately assassinated by the Zionist entity, in open defiance of international law, basic morality, and even the most fundamental principles of humanity.

The so-called international community bears direct responsibility for these crimes. Hollow statements of condemnation and symbolic expressions of sorrow do not absolve governments with the power to act. While hundreds of thousands have marched in cities from Sydney to Tokyo to London, their governments have refused to take meaningful measures against the Jewish entity. Meanwhile, neighboring Muslim countries — whose armies possess the capability to end these massacres — remain silent.

The Gaza massacre stands as a symbol of abandonment — a term now inadequate to convey the scale of betrayal. The repeated condemnations issued by the UN and world capitals are, in truth, acts of complicity. These states continue to provide the Zionist entity with direct military, political, and economic support.

This entity will not halt its crimes nor face accountability except through the re-establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) State, as foretold by the Prophet Muhammad (saw): «ثُمَّ تَكُونُ مُلْكًا جَبْرِيَّةً فَتَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةً عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ النُّبُوَّةِ»“…then there will be a tyrannical kingdom that will last as long as Allah wills, then Allah will remove it when He wills, and then there will be a Caliphate upon the Prophetic method.” (Narrated by Ahmad)

The establishment of the rightly guided Caliphate is the only political and military framework capable of protecting Gaza and all oppressed Muslim lands. The Ummah must demand the removal of the Muslim rulers who prevent Muslim armies from fulfilling their duty. It is incumbent upon these armies to break rank, mobilize for Gaza and grant Nusrah — active support — to those working sincerely for the Caliphate, foremost to Hizb ut Tahrir.This obligation lifts the burden from the conscience of every Muslim who desires to aid the oppressed and defend the sanctities of Islam. This is the decisive course of action.

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اسْتَجِيبُواْ لِلّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُم لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ]

“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a person and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.” [Al-Anfal: 24]
